A BRIDGE

AND OTHER CHINESE-SPEAKING REGIONS
CHINESE TRANSLATION
Chinese is a language that is spoken in many different Chinese communities around the world, and each variant carries its own distinctive character and flavour.
Depending on who the target audience of your translated content is, the translators assigned to your project will be different.
You may ask - "So what variant of Chinese do I need?"
Simplified Chinese - this is the modern-day Chinese used in China and Singapore. The Simplified script has undergone a few iterations in the past, the effort of Chinese government since 1956, the intention of which was to make literacy more accessible to the masses.
Countries that have adopted Simplified Chinese as part of their curriculum include Singapore and Malaysia.
Grammatically, the Simplified Chinese used in these locales follow the same or similar conventions, but certain names, proper nouns and expressions are different.
Traditional Chinese - used predominantly in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Due to the political and historical events that separated the these territories from Mainland China in the previous century, these regions have not adopted the simplified script, which have led to very different developments in how the language is used in these locations.
The Traditional Chinese variant in Taiwan is very different from the version used in Hong Kong Macau as they are very much influenced by the Chinese dialects spoken locally. In Hong Kong, people speak Cantonese, whereas the Chinese variant used in Taiwan is influenced by the Southern Min (Minnan) dialect.
