MALAY TRANSLATION

Malay (or Bahasa Melayu) is the national language of Singapore.

Even though English is the common language of communication and commerce in Singapore, Malay is still widely spoken by the Malay population in the country.

​

Today, it is spoken by ethic Malays in Singapore that make up 13-14 per cent of the country's population as well as by 31.5 million in Malaysia.

Although similar to the Bahasa Indonesia spoken in the neighbouring Indonesia, the two languages are not the same and cannot be used interchangeably.
